Multi-faceted spy belonging to NERV's Special Inspectorate. Formerly served as guardian to Asuka Langley Soryu at the German branch; old university friends and former lovers with Misato Katsuragi and Ritsuko Akagi. Officially a NERV employee, but operated as a spy for the Japanese government, and also as SEELE's \"bell\" monitoring Gendo Ikari. Conducted not only intelligence gathering but also covert operations inside and outside the organization, such as diverting Adam's embryonic object, making him a key figure in the story. Lost SEELE's trust while acting as a triple spy and was ultimately assassinated. Entrusted the truth of Second Impact to Misato.
