Backstory
Born in Nanjo City, Okinawa Prefecture. His older brother Sota Miyagi was a renowned minibasketball player who died in a maritime accident. Inheriting his brother's number 7, he became passionate about basketball under his influence. In middle school, he was acclaimed as one of the top five point guards in the prefecture. After enrolling in Shohoku High School, he rejected offers from powerhouse schools and joined Shohoku out of admiration for Coach Anzai. Initially unsure about continuing basketball, he joined the club after falling in love at first sight with Ayako. He overcame an assault by Hisashi Mitsui's delinquent group, temporarily stepped away from basketball due to illness and accidents, but returned and even served as captain.
