Backstory
Born into a prestigious medical family in Aizu, but lost her father in the Aizu War, with her mother and two brothers going missing. After leaving her hometown for Tokyo, her talents were exploited by corrupt businessman Takeda Kanryū, who forced her into opium production and confined her. After meeting Kenshin and being rescued, she devoted herself to treating the injuries of Kenshin and his friends, fulfilling her role as a doctor. After the Kanryū incident, she developed feelings for Kenshin but stepped back upon learning of his bond with Kaoru. Highly regarded as a physician, she continues medical activities even after returning to Aizu.
