Backstory
As the thirteenth successor of Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū, he has honed his swordsmanship since the Bakumatsu period. After the Restoration, he lived in seclusion in the mountains under the alias potter Shintsū Kakunosuke. As Kenshin's master, he rigorously trained him, dramatically improving his skills through harsh training. Imparting the ultimate technique was a major turning point for Kenshin, though he harbors complex feelings about his disciple's fate.
