Personality and abilities
- Core personality
- Cunning
- Detailed personality
- Jack Sparrow has an altruistic side while bewildering opponents with unfocused, drunken-like movements and strange speech patterns. He values freedom above all and has a strong attachment to his status as captain. He is a strategist who is quick-witted, always observing situations and seizing the most advantageous moments. He is skilled at flirting with women but essentially avoids long-term relationships. He also has an unhygienic side with bad breath, yet he is somehow charming. His swordsmanship is inferior to other pirates, making him the type who relies on his wits.

History

- In his youth, he sailed on the Barnacle searching for the legendary Sword of Cortés and upgraded it to the large ship Grand Barnacle with nearly 60 cannons. He broke the pirate code and escaped, worked as a helmsman for the East India Trading Company but refused slave transport. After having the Wicked Wench seized and burned, receiving the pirate brand, he returned to piracy. He had the sunken ship raised by Davy Jones of the Flying Dutchman and named it the Black Pearl. Before appearing in the movies, he was marooned on an island and carried a one-shot pistol for 10 years to seek revenge on the traitor Barbossa.
