History

Backstory
14-year-old boy living in Sengokuhara, Third New Tokyo City. Originally from Sakai, Osaka, speaks Kansai dialect. Selected as the Fourth Child for Eva Unit-03, decides to join NERV after his sister is injured. Initially at odds with Shinji but gradually reconciles and becomes best friends. During the first activation test, he is severely injured, losing his left leg due to the rampaging Unit-03 controlled by an Angel. In the manga version, he dies during the activation experiment. In the Rebuild films, the Unit-03 pilot is changed to Asuka, his sister is fully cured, and they are depicted as close siblings. In the final chapter, he works as a village doctor, marries Hikari, and has a daughter named Tsubame.
