History
- Backstory
- The original Mogera appeared in Toho's 1957 tokusatsu film 'The Mysterians'. It is a giant robot developed by the Mysterians from Mysterian Star for civil engineering purposes for Earth invasion, but also operated as a weapon. Length 50m (varies in settings), weight 50,000 tons. Equipped with endless track armor, head and arm drills, and death ray, it emerges from underground. In the 1994 release 'Godzilla vs. SpaceGodzilla', it was greatly remade as MOGERA (Mobile Operation Godzilla Expert Robot Aero-type). It features a combination mechanism of Land Mogera (subterranean tank) and Star Falcon (bomber), powered by a laser nuclear fusion furnace, capable of combat even in outer space. Piloted by 3 people. It was revived as a character that SFX director Koichi Kawakita continued to have affection for.
