History

Backstory
Born the eldest son of a low-ranking samurai family, but isolated due to class discrimination at the prestigious dojo Kōtōkan. Meets Gintoki, Katsura, Shoyo, and learns the way of the sword and ideals at Shōka Sonjuku. Harboring deep sorrow and hatred from Shoyo's execution, parts ways with Gintoki and others to pursue radical Shogunate overthrow. After the Joi War, revives the once-destroyed Joi Army's Kiheitai, becoming a radical faction plotting armed overthrow of the Shogunate. Secretly allies with Harusame and the Shogunate's Hitotsubashi faction, operating in the shadows.
