History

Backstory
Raised at Wammy's House, an orphanage in Winchester, Hampshire, England. Trained as L's successor and rival to fellow candidate Near. After L's death, he yielded the successor position to Near but could not accept it, infiltrating the mafia and becoming the brains of a criminal organization to conduct his own Kira investigation. His goal was to capture Kira before Near and take the top spot. He orchestrated the kidnapping of Kiyomi Takada, seizure of the Death Note, and destruction of the SPK, but ultimately died when Takada wrote his name on a scrap of the Death Note in a church in Nagano.
